Its bouquet is saturated by with fruit and florals as pristine, concentrated scents of cassis, dark plums and black cherries are tightly knit with cedar/cigarboxy oak and lifted by sweet scents of violets and dried wild herbs. Underpinned by a firmish, powdery spine of drying tannins, its luscious, mouthfilling core of vivacious fruit extends tightly ordered and complete towards a lingering, dry and faintly mineral finish. Exuding class and finesse, it’s emphatic but controlled, flaunting its artful integration with excellent polished oak. A Queen Mary (reference the liner) of a cabernet, and one of the finest from Australia in decades.

$150.00Jeremy’s score 97/100A superb, firm and assertive, genuinely Bordeaux-like merlot revealing a perfect balance between fruit and structure, oak and texture. Deep aromas of dark, ripe cherries, dark plums and fresh cedary oak are lifted by scents of dark blue and black flowers, revealing notes of mineral and gravel, cigarbox and blood plum with breathing. Initially quite fine and silky, its long, smooth and polished palate delivers remarkable plushness and texture, becoming firmer with time in the glass. Driving long and complete, it’s a remarkable marriage of varietal purity and flavour, with everything in perfect place to cellar for decades.

Superbly long and focused, its round and fleshy core of vibrant fruit extends down a fine chalky undercarriage towards a mouthwatering, steely finish that’s perfectly dry, mouthwatering and even a shade saline. Fragrant and spicy, with an alluring bouquet of small red berries, cherries, citrus oil and eastern spice, this medium-bodied pinot delivers pleasing weight, gentle fatness and intensity of flavour down its fine, sandpapery backbone, finishing with a savoury aspect and a gentle acidity. Likely to build more flesh and roundness. A terrific wine at just $25 – I’m not sure how they did this! It’s so stable it was still terrific 4 days after opening!

Sweet earthy aromas of old saddlery, red berries and cherries are interwoven with restrained, dusty cedar and vanilla oak. Soft and creamy, becoming fine and silky at the finish, its bright flavours of cassis, plums and dark cherries, licorice and cloves are showing some earthy maturity.
