Telmo Rodriguez Lugar Valbuxan Mencia de Paraje 2019
$75.00Jeremy’s score 93/100Complex and savoury, with a musky, floral perfume of bright red and blue berries, small red flowers and fiery eastern spices with earthy undertones. Medium in weight, it’s long, smooth and supple, with an evenly paced palate wrapped in fine, powdery tannins, culminating in a licorice-like, savoury finish.

Thelema Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
$58.00Jeremy’s score 93/100A long, seamless and polished cabernet with some of the rusticity often seen in South African cabernet. Its deep, faintly meaty aromas of dark berries, plums and cedar/cigarboxy oak precedes a smooth core of cassis and red berry flavour supported by fine, tight-grained tannins. The wine takes a long time to breathe and to shed some reductive aspects – so I suggest double-decanting in its youth. Having watched it closely over a few days I have seen it steadily reveal its true purity and expression. It has the balance and structure to age gracefully.

Thomas The Dam Block Shiraz 2021
$40.00Jeremy’s score 91/100An elegant, ethereal medium-bodied shiraz that opens up ever so slowly to reveal a spicy fragrance of raspberries, strawberries and chocolatey oak before a gentle palate whose juicy presence of cherries, berries and blood plums overlies a very fine spine of powdery tannins. As a four year-old it has fleshed out beautifully, easing into its spine of tight-grained tannins, extending long and stylish, finishing savoury with notes of fennel and redcurrant.
-
Thomas The Dam Block Shiraz 2022
$40.00Jeremy’s score 91/100A fine, restrained and elegant Hunter shiraz whose heady, musky and floral aromas of small black and red berries reveal faintly ferrous undertones of cedar and mineral. Medium in weight, it’s long, gentle and supple, with a lively, sour-edged core of raspberries, blood plums and boysenberries underpinned by very fine tannins and wrapped in a racy acidity. It finishes spicy and almost savoury, with an emphasis on red licorice, black and blue fruit.
-
Thomas The O.C. Semillon 2023
$30.00Jeremy’s score 94/100Classically fine, shapely, taut and elegant, with a faintly floral bouquet of lemon and lime backed by chalky mineral notes and a whiff of melon. Long and very persistent, it’s pithy and flavoursome, punctuated by a refreshing acidity and finishing with a briny minerality.
-
Thomas The O.C. Semillon 2025
$30.00Jeremy’s score 94/100An excellent Hunter semillon that is, quite unusually in fact, wonderful to drink now and through the coming summer but will also develop great complexity and character in the bottle for a decade and more. Its intense, voluminous scents of lemon zest and white flowers reveal a whiff of chalk and mineral, while its mouthfilling core of pristine, translucently clear flavour drives long and crunchy towards a refreshing, dry and faintly saline finish. Honestly, if seafood is your thing…
-
Tim Adams Ladera Tempranillo 2021

-
Tim Adams Watervale Cabernet Malbec 2018
$40.00Jeremy’s score 95/100A long-term, elegant and vivacious cabernet blend with a deep and faintly minty bouquet of cassis, violets, redcurrants and cedar/vanilla oak backed by hints of earth and minerals. It’s medium to fullish in weight, with a wonderful length of rich, bloody fruit driven by its low-cropped malbec which is defly balanced with oak, a powdery backbone and a refreshing acidity. Will develop superbly over time.
-
Vinea Marson Sangiovese 2013
$54.00Jeremy’s score 94/100A full, robust sangiovese with a heady, deeply aromatic and floral bouquet of red cherries, plums and meaty, faintly herbal nuances overlying notes of spice and cola. Its sumptuous, deeply flavoured and faintly sour-edged core of red cherries, blackberries and blueberries is supported by firmish, grainy tannins, finishing savoury with profound length, structure and a fine acid balance. As a mature wine it’s deeply flavoured, vibrant and juicy, with plenty of leathery development that works perfectly with its savoury aspects.
-
Vinea Marson Sangiovese 2021
$46.00Jeremy’s score 94/1002021 has delivered an exceptional, but different Vinea Marson Sangiovese. It’s deeply ripened, dark-fruited and fleshy, with a wonderful drive of plush but gentle, seamless fruit and extract. More like a Rosso di Montalcino than the more traditional Chianti-like expression from this vineyard, it’s deeply spiced, perfumed and heady. Underpinned by a fine, powdery and superbly integrated backbone, it’s superbly varietal and balanced, finishing quite savoury with refreshing acids, a lingering sandpapery grip and a wonderful drive of dark red fruit.
-
Voyager Estate Chenin Blanc 2023
$28.00Jeremy’s score 90/100Marginally sweet, this smooth, generous chenin delivers typically varietal flavours of peach and melon with pleasing nutty and creamy complexity. It’s long and complete, spotlessly fresh and finishes off-dry.
