Deliciously fruited, it’s underpinned by tight, sandpapery tannins. Delicious right now but likely to evolve very well.

Heady aromas of rose petals, redcurrants and blood plums reveal a whiff of spice and citrus oil. Translucently clear, its pristine, mouthfilling palate of vivacious red, black and blue fruits extends down a very fine, sandpapery spine and over some dusty oak towards a refreshing and finely integrated acidity. Excellent balance. Open now or wait for 2-3 more years.

It’s fullish to medium in weight, long and gravelly, with a sumptuous core of sour-edged dark berry/plum fruit that steadily builds with aeration, ultimately finishing savoury, with schisty, mineral notes.

Medium to fullish in weight, it’s long, smooth and evenly ripened, presenting a vibrant core of fruit framed by fine, loose-knit mineral tannins and backed by smoky, chocolatey oak. A totally charming and elegant wine of savoury charm and balance.

Peccavi Chardonnay 2022
$65.00Jeremy’s score 95/100A youthful, evolving chardonnay whose aromas of grapefruit, lemon, lime and white peach are lifted by notes of flowers and spice, with toasty, creamy, nutty and faintly buttery undertones. It’s anything but flabby, but delivers a vibrant, mouthfilling core of citrus and stonefruit flavour deftly knit with oak and creamy, buttery and yeast-derived nutty complexity. Driving long and generous down a powdery spine, it then focuses around a saline lick of brine and mineral, where a brittle acidity helps it finish dry and savoury. It’s measured and stylish, likely to evolve more richness, weight and roundness while retaining its balance and style.

Lifted by a whiff of violet, it reveals a confiture-like bouquet of mulberries, cassis, dark plums and toasty vanilla oak. Effortless, smooth and creamy, its chocolatey presence of dark berries and cherries is framed by a loose-knit grade of grainy tannin. Like most reds made 100% from this grape, it’s for the short to medium term.

It’s long, luscious and refined, with a wonderful depth of fruit that drives over a pithy crunchiness towards a lingering finish that hints of brine and minerals. A terrific food wine and certainly a sauvignon blanc for adults!
