Deep, alluring aromas of dark rose petals, dark cherries, raspberries, blood plums, musk and eastern spice precede a long, stylish and complete palate of medium weight but rare intensity. Underpinned by a fine, chalky spine, its translucently bright and clear core of pristine cherry/berry fruit finishes long and savoury, wrapped in a mouthwatering acidity. A truly delightful and very consistent expression of the Delamere style that will certainly build in colour, density of flavour and structure.

Delamere
Shane Holloway and Fran Austin are a young couple who have turned up in Northern Tasmania from the Adelaide Hills and Kalgoorlie (WA) respectively. Their combined experience and the track record they have already assembled at Delamere suggests that this will be a label worth watching, potential already realised from the 2012 vintage onwards. While the non-vintage sparkling wines are well worthy of attention, I have a very soft spot for the very stylish and savoury vintage Blanc de Blanc, even if the 2012 edition was perhaps a little heavily worked for its depth of fruit and forward nature.
