A creamy, musky and floral bouquet of white peach, grapefruit, lemon and red apple skin reveals suggestions of guava, matchstick oak, spice and mineral. Medium in weight, it's smooth and gentle, with a translucent core of stonefruit, pear, apple and citrus flavours that build steadily towards an emphatic finish. Underpinned by fine, slatey phenolics, it's effortlessly long and finely balanced, finishing with purity and poise.

Shane Holloway and Fran Austin are a young couple who have turned up in Northern Tasmania from the Adelaide Hills and Kalgoorlie (WA) respectively. Their combined experience and the track record they have already assembled at Delamere suggests that this will be a label worth watching, potential already realised from the 2012 vintage onwards. While the non-vintage sparkling wines are well worthy of attention, I have a very soft spot for the very stylish and savoury vintage Blanc de Blanc, even if the 2012 edition was perhaps a little heavily worked for its depth of fruit and forward nature.
