Bright, penetrative aromas of white flowers, apple skin, citrus zest and a hint of creaminess precedes a long, complete and finely balanced palate whose mouthfilling citrus and stonefruit flavours reveals suggestions of bakery yeast, grilled nuts and lemon. The bead is very fine and there's a pleasing chalkiness beneath the palate, which finishes fresh and lemony. Very classy - the ideal aperitif wine.

Shane Holloway and Fran Austin are a young couple who have turned up in Northern Tasmania from the Adelaide Hills and Kalgoorlie (WA) respectively. Their combined experience and the track record they have already assembled at Delamere suggests that this will be a label worth watching, potential already realised from the 2012 vintage onwards. While the non-vintage sparkling wines are well worthy of attention, I have a very soft spot for the very stylish and savoury vintage Blanc de Blanc, even if the 2012 edition was perhaps a little heavily worked for its depth of fruit and forward nature.
