Thomas The O.C. Semillon 2025
$30.00Jeremy’s score 94/100An excellent Hunter semillon that is, quite unusually in fact, wonderful to drink now and through the coming summer but will also develop great complexity and character in the bottle for a decade and more. Its intense, voluminous scents of lemon zest and white flowers reveal a whiff of chalk and mineral, while its mouthfilling core of pristine, translucently clear flavour drives long and crunchy towards a refreshing, dry and faintly saline finish. Honestly, if seafood is your thing…

Vinea Marson Nebbiolo 2012
$62.00Jeremy’s score 95/100A complete, complex, elegant and savoury nebbiolo whose seductively perfumed, floral bouquet of cherries and raspberries reveals undertones of dried herbs, underbrush and a whiff of spice. It’s supple and savoury, with a beautiful drive of cherry and cranberry-like fruit and evolving leathery complexity underpinned by a crunchy spine of tightly-knit tannins. Culminating in a long and refreshing finish, it’s drinking superbly now but still has plenty of evolution ahead.
-
Vinea Marson Sangiovese 2013
$54.00Jeremy’s score 94/100A full, robust sangiovese with a heady, deeply aromatic and floral bouquet of red cherries, plums and meaty, faintly herbal nuances overlying notes of spice and cola. Its sumptuous, deeply flavoured and faintly sour-edged core of red cherries, blackberries and blueberries is supported by firmish, grainy tannins, finishing savoury with profound length, structure and a fine acid balance. As a mature wine it’s deeply flavoured, vibrant and juicy, with plenty of leathery development that works perfectly with its savoury aspects.

Vinea Marson Sangiovese 2021
$46.00Jeremy’s score 94/1002021 has delivered an exceptional, but different Vinea Marson Sangiovese. It’s deeply ripened, dark-fruited and fleshy, with a wonderful drive of plush but gentle, seamless fruit and extract. More like a Rosso di Montalcino than the more traditional Chianti-like expression from this vineyard, it’s deeply spiced, perfumed and heady. Underpinned by a fine, powdery and superbly integrated backbone, it’s superbly varietal and balanced, finishing quite savoury with refreshing acids, a lingering sandpapery grip and a wonderful drive of dark red fruit.
-

Wickhams Road Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2024
$23.00Jeremy’s score 91/100What’s going on here? How on earth does Franco d’Anna fashion a pinot of such intensity, purity, fragrance and depth of flavour – not to mention its structure, drive and balance – for $22? I’m ordering it immediately for our Shop. There’s no way a $22 pinot can be this good; it pulls the rug out from many supposedly illustrious pinots for two or three times its price. A delicious, mouthfilling, satisfying, yong and uncomplicated pinot that gives and gives. And even more the day after if you have the patience…
-
