Vinea Marson Sangiovese 2013
$54.00Jeremy’s score 94/100A full, robust sangiovese with a heady, deeply aromatic and floral bouquet of red cherries, plums and meaty, faintly herbal nuances overlying notes of spice and cola. Its sumptuous, deeply flavoured and faintly sour-edged core of red cherries, blackberries and blueberries is supported by firmish, grainy tannins, finishing savoury with profound length, structure and a fine acid balance. As a mature wine it’s deeply flavoured, vibrant and juicy, with plenty of leathery development that works perfectly with its savoury aspects.

Vinea Marson Sangiovese 2021
$46.00Jeremy’s score 94/1002021 has delivered an exceptional, but different Vinea Marson Sangiovese. It’s deeply ripened, dark-fruited and fleshy, with a wonderful drive of plush but gentle, seamless fruit and extract. More like a Rosso di Montalcino than the more traditional Chianti-like expression from this vineyard, it’s deeply spiced, perfumed and heady. Underpinned by a fine, powdery and superbly integrated backbone, it’s superbly varietal and balanced, finishing quite savoury with refreshing acids, a lingering sandpapery grip and a wonderful drive of dark red fruit.
-
Voyager Estate Chenin Blanc 2023

-
Voyager Estate Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2022
$24.00Jeremy’s score 87/100A typically herbaceous expression of Margaret River semillon with the gooseberry/lychee characters of sauvignon blanc backed by some creamy, nutty complexity. It’s generous and juicy.

Wantirna Estate Amelia Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2011
$90.00Jeremy’s score 90/100Charmingly gentle, smooth and supple, with a delicate, dusty bouquet of light floral notes, sweet black and red berries and restrained cedary oak. It’s finely crafted, elegant and willowy, with a pleasing length of gentle fruit, reserved oak and supple tannins, finishing with fresh acids and just a hint of a green edge.

Wickhams Road Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2024
$23.00Jeremy’s score 91/100What’s going on here? How on earth does Franco d’Anna fashion a pinot of such intensity, purity, fragrance and depth of flavour – not to mention its structure, drive and balance – for $22? I’m ordering it immediately for our Shop. There’s no way a $22 pinot can be this good; it pulls the rug out from many supposedly illustrious pinots for two or three times its price. A delicious, mouthfilling, satisfying, yong and uncomplicated pinot that gives and gives. And even more the day after if you have the patience…
-
Wickhams Road Yea Valley Cabernet Franc 2022
$19.00Jeremy’s score 89/100A long, complete and even stylish cabernet franc whose vibrant but dusty perfume of raspberries, redcurrants and light cedary oak reveals a hint of dried herbs. Supported by a fine, gravelly spine, its vivacious palate of red and blue fruits fills the mouth before honing in towards a fresh and almost savoury finish.

-
Wirra Wirra Dry Grenache Rose 2024
$28.00Jeremy’s score 91/100Vivacious and varietal, with a delightful perfume of raspberries and red cherries lifted by sweet floral aromas and backed by a hint of creaminess. It’s round, luscious and deeply flavoured as it extends with a juicy viscosity and undertones of nougat and bubblegum down a fine, powdery backbone towards a lingering, savory and distinctly saline finish wrapped in refreshing acidity.
-
Wynns Coonawarra Estate Glengyle Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
$80.00Jeremy’s score 96/100Very elegant and stylish, with the depth and structure suggestive of fine Saint-Julien. It opens with a dark, musly and mineral bouquet of cassis, blood plums and redcurrants lifted by heady scents of red and blue flowers and knit with cedar/mocha/dark chocolate oak. Supported by a fine, drying spine of firm tannin, its deep, beautifully poised core of blackberry, mulberry and cassis-like flavour extends with smoothness and polish towards a lingering savoury finish. Likely to build with time in the bottle, then age classically later on.
-
Yalumba Eden Valley Viognier 2023
$25.00Jeremy’s score 91/100Alluring scents of honeysuckle, cinnamon, musk and tangerine precede a luscious but gentle palate whose stonefruit and citrus flavours extend down a fine, drying and slatey backbone towards a savoury and faintly saline finish. It’s a finer, more reserved expression of this variety, but still provides an emphatic expression of classic perfume, mouthfeel and flavour.
