An excellent, fuller expression of Hunter shiraz whose heady perfume of blackberries, dark plum, chocolate oak, mocha and briar is lifted by scents of cracked pepper and exotic spice. Fullish to medium in weight and supported by a crunchy extract of firm, gravelly tannins, it's long and complete, revealing undertones of roasting meats, dried herbs and cola, culminating in a lingering finish of dark licorice.

Mount Pleasant
Mount Pleasant was the McWilliam family's beachhead in the Hunter Valley. Today it is owned by the Medich family and remains home to classic, traditional wines made from ancient and important sites. Its efforts with semillon under the Elizabeth and Lovedale labels are the stuff of Hunter legend, while the collection of OP & OH, Maurice O'Shea Shiraz and Rosehill Shiraz represent several of the most historic vineyards in New South Wales. Adrian Sparks, chief winemaker since 2018, has overseen an evolution of a true house style within which the superb old sites can really express themselves. Stylistically, these are Hunter classics of course, but carry more than enough expression and completeness to suggest both the northern Rhone and Burgundy.
