Brokenwood Pinot Gris
Beechworth
Price Range at Release: $20-$29
Vintage: 2011
$ Rel: 25
Rather broad, cloying and early-maturing, with a spicy, cinnamon-like and honeyed bouquet suggestive of pears and baklava. ItÕs round and juicy, with an assertive expression of peach/nectarine flavour that tends to stall down the palate, finishing with intensity and fruit sweetness.

Brokenwood
Despite sourcing fruit from as far and wide as Beechworth, Orange, the King Valley and McLaren Vale, Brokenwood’s spiritual home remains firmly in the Hunter, which remains the source of its most drinkable and interesting wines. Sadly, the Rayner Vineyard Shiraz has been discontinued, along with the Mistress Block Shiraz from the Hunter. A recent visit to Brokenwood was memorable not only for the truly incredible quality of the Hunter reds (still in barrel) from 2014 – by some margin the region's finest since 1965 – and for the opportunity to explore some of the individual blocks of semillon, the very finest of which end up under the ILR Reserve label.
