Lightly herbal and fractionally sweaty, with restrained aromas of gooseberries, white peach and melon backed by nutty, leesy undertones. Lean, taut and forward, its palate has plenty of length and presence of fruit but finishes slightly hot and sweet. Wrapped in clean acids, it’s sound and flavoursome, but lacks genuine cut and shape.

Grosset
Grosset is rightly known the world over for the spectacular quality and charm of its two key individual vineyard rieslings, the Polish Hill and the Springvale, both of which are graded with a Five Star rating, the only pair of rieslings from a single maker to achieve this level of recognition. While Grosset's current releases are all of genuine style and quality, I'm paying particular attention to the 2012 Gaia cabernet blend, which is by far the best wine under this label for many a year.
