Alkoomi Blackbutt Cabernet Blend 2005

A tiring, ageing, green-edged red that lacks freshness and character. Thereƕs some presence of forward dark fruit, but it becomes more greenish, meaty and currant-like down the palate, finishing quite thin, raw and metallic.

Winery

Alkoomi
Alkoomi was one of the founding vineyards of the Great Southern region. Located in the northern Frankland River sub region, its recent vintages are returning to the style and structure upon which they developed their reputation. Leading the current releases are the Melaleuca Riesling from 2016 (95/100, drink 2028-2036), a wine of classical perfume, purity and longevity, plus the elegant and restrained Blackbutt blend of red Bordeaux varieties from 2010.
