Yet more wonderful red wine at an affordable price

I’ve just spent a couple of days on a wine and cricket trip into central Victoria. The slight pain incurred as my Vignerons XI came second to a team from the Melbourne Cricket Club eased significantly when yesterday I tasted and immediately loved a heady, perfumed and finely structured, savoury grenache made by Simon Osicka. Gluggable and vivacious, it’s grown and made with love and care from an intricately managed vineyard of low bush vines. It will be listed on this platform very shortly. Meanwhile, here’s a fabulous Spanish wine of amazing similarity in style and quality to ease any pain while awaiting its arrival. From Campo de Borja comes this vibrant, perfumed and wonderfully textured young grenache that drinks well above its $33 tag. Equip yourself beforehand with a platter of jamon, pickled artichokes and manchego and I guarantee you’ll be entirely free of anything resembling pain at all.
