Hewitson Ungrafted Grenache 2024

$50.00

From century-old vines on their own roots comes this sensual, perfumed and textural grenache whose deeply floral bouquet unfolds scents of red rose petals, eastern spices, redcurrants, raspberries, blood plums and dark cherries. Wonderfully long, it’s elegant and very complete, with an explosive core of flavour that belies its fineness. Juicy flavours of small red and blue fruits gently pay down its slatey backbone, culminating in a lingering finish of vibrant fruit and red licorice. It will build in the bottle with time, becoming more savoury as it does. Stylistically, it’s more Spanish than southern French.

Winery

Hewitson
Dean Hewitson's wines reflect a technical stability and correctness plus a level of artisanship rare in Australian wine. His wines are so much more perfumed, restrained and elegant than most wines from the Barossa and McLaren vale, but deliver a lustrous intensity that only great vineyards can achieve. There's a true house style here, which is the envy of most small producers the world over. No wines reflect this better than the two mourvŹdres, each of which can produce a fragrance, purity and silkiness more commonly experienced with pinot noir.
