Chateau Mouton-Rothschild Cabernet Blend 1993

Pungent aromas of ripe, plummy and cassis-like fruit are lifted by scents of violets and licorice and backed by pungent notes of mocha, ground coffee and chicory. Sporting excellent weight and power, its long, finely balanced core of fruit extends with strength and power down a firm, grainy spine of tight-knit tannins, finishing quite savoury and bacony, with a wonderful acidity.

Chateau Mouton-Rothschild
One of the greatest wines estates in Bordeaux and located near the village of Pauillac, Chateau Mouton Rothschild was only elevated to First Growth status in 1973. This is despite it meeting the criteria upon which the 1855 Classification of the Medoc was based. Known for the works of art which take centre stage upon its labels with each successive vintage, its illustrious wines are perhaps finer in style that Lafite and Latour and can take some time in the bottle for its oak to ease into the wine. There's no doubt that the greatest wines of this estate count amongst the finest ever made. The vineyard comprises 90 ha mainly of cabernet sauvignon (81%), with merlot (15%), cabernet franc (3%) and some petit verdot (1%).
