Winery

Charles Melton
Charles Melton is a champion of traditional Barossa styles, although in its mischievously named Nine Popes it was one of the first to 'rediscover' the virtues of the blend of shiraz, grenache and mourvŹdre. The last vintage for the Barossa Shiraz was 2006, a wine that has in effect been replaced by the Grains of Paradise Shiraz, whose first vintage was 2005. Today the reds just seem to lack a core of genuine ripeness, often falling away with greenish and meaty influences at the finish. This seems to be more of a viticultural issue than a winemaking one.
