A robust, evenly ripened, longer-term red of balance and charm. A restrained perfume of small red and black berries, cedar/vanilla oak is dusted by a note of dried herbs and lifted by a scent of violets. Backed by nuances of dried herbs and freshly turned earth, its firm, assertive but cultivated palate of ripe black and red berries, fresh oak and slightly blocky tannins will take some time to settle.

Alkoomi
Alkoomi was one of the founding vineyards of the Great Southern region. Located in the northern Frankland River sub region, its recent vintages are returning to the style and structure upon which they developed their reputation. Leading the current releases are the Melaleuca Riesling from 2016 (95/100, drink 2028-2036), a wine of classical perfume, purity and longevity, plus the elegant and restrained Blackbutt blend of red Bordeaux varieties from 2010.
