Tightly sculpted around a long, minerally palate and a finish of searing acidity, this complex young riesling does require some cellaring. Its delicate bouquet of pear, lime juice and creamy, lees-derived bound sulphide complexity precedes a palate of focus and definition. Vibrant pear, apple and citrusy flavours finish long and tangy, with just a hint of soapiness.

Winery
Alkoomi
Alkoomi was one of the founding vineyards of the Great Southern region. Located in the northern Frankland River sub region, its recent vintages are returning to the style and structure upon which they developed their reputation. Leading the current releases are the Melaleuca Riesling from 2016 (95/100, drink 2028-2036), a wine of classical perfume, purity and longevity, plus the elegant and restrained Blackbutt blend of red Bordeaux varieties from 2010.
