A gentle, restrained and supple red made from Sérine, a selection believed to be an old type of Syrah (shiraz) from the northern Rhône. Its briary, faintly herbal bouquet of redcurrants, blueberries and dark cherries is lifted by musky, peppery aromas, while its ethereal, almost fragile palate, marries suggestions of underbrush with gentle, pristine fruit. Wrapped in a rather taut, almost sappy acidity, it is made from just six rows of fruit and matured in a single foudre (large format barrel).
