Long and vivacious, steeped in flavour but just medium in weight, it moves down a fine, powsery spine towards a tingling finish of refreshing acidity, finishing savoury and persistent. Astonishing.

Lifted by heady scents of potpourri and eastern spice, its fragrance of redcurrants, blackberries and blood plums is both densely packed and floral. Supported by a drying, gravelly spine, its luscious core of plump, translucently bright black and red fruits knits tightly with cedary oak, extending long and measured towards an artfully balanced and savoury finish.

ItÕs mouthfilling and unctuously smooth, finishing with delightful drive and balance.

Underpinned by a slatey spine, its generous dark fruit drives long and persistent, while the finish is stylish and savoury. What a package!

A true fist in a velvet glove, it’s a real half-way stage between top-class pinot noir and shiraz. Does the variety really end up mattering? Its perfume defies belief for its heady, floral, musky and spicy perfume of black, blue and red flowers, exotic spices, cardamon and blood plums. Over time it has become more earthy and mineral, while its outstanding oak shines though. The palate glides with effortless style as its translucently pure core of vivacious but supremely restrained fruit wraps around the finest and firmest of dry, mineral tannins, finishing exceptionally long and savoury. Astonishing. A landmark wine. Unforgettable. Lord knows what it would cost if it came from the northern Rhone!
