Mount Pleasant Lovedale Semillon 2018

$95.00

A stellar, sumptuous Lovedale vineyard semillon that emphasises the richness, roundness and depth of flavour this site produces. Smoky aromas of brulee, lemon butter and lemon blossom reveal creamy, waxy nuances. It’s concentrated and unctuous, moving seamlessly with length and impact before finishing quite savoury and almost saline, with mouthwatering but soft and gentle lime juice and lemony acids. Already complex and delicious, it will certainly develop superbly over the next decade and possibly more.

Mount Pleasant
Mount Pleasant was the McWilliam family's beachhead in the Hunter Valley. Today it is owned by the Medich family and remains home to classic, traditional wines made from ancient and important sites. Its efforts with semillon under the Elizabeth and Lovedale labels are the stuff of Hunter legend, while the collection of OP & OH, Maurice O'Shea Shiraz and Rosehill Shiraz represent several of the most historic vineyards in New South Wales. Adrian Sparks, chief winemaker since 2018, has overseen an evolution of a true house style within which the superb old sites can really express themselves. Stylistically, these are Hunter classics of course, but carry more than enough expression and completeness to suggest both the northern Rhone and Burgundy.
