Grosset Pinot Noir 2008

Beautifully focused, with deep varietal qualities and genuine strength and structure, this finely balanced pinot should age well. Its delicate perfume of rose petals, black and red cherries reveals undertones of meaty, earthy complexity, plus a whiff of currant. Supported by a firm spine of bony, dusty tannin, its smooth, almost sappy mouthfeel delivers a long, persistent core of sweet cherry and plum-like fruit backed by a hint of beetroot and finished by a bright, refreshing acidity.

Grosset
Grosset is rightly known the world over for the spectacular quality and charm of its two key individual vineyard rieslings, the Polish Hill and the Springvale, both of which are graded with a Five Star rating, the only pair of rieslings from a single maker to achieve this level of recognition. While Grosset's current releases are all of genuine style and quality, I'm paying particular attention to the 2012 Gaia cabernet blend, which is by far the best wine under this label for many a year.
