Neldner Road (Formerly Powell and Son) Steinert Flaxman’s Valley Shiraz 2017
Heady and floral, laced with violets, five spice, blackberries, dark plums and chocolatey oak, with nuances of cracked pepper, mocha, roasting meats and graphite. Fullish to medium in weight, itÕs long and vivacious, with a pristine, plush and translucently bright core of dark fruits and cigarboxy undertones driving long and seamless down a slatey spine towards a finish of lively and perfectly balanced acidity. Exceptional finesse and charm Ð a riper Eden Valley classic, from a cool year!

Neldner Road (Formerly Powell and Son)
Dave Powell, founder of Torbreck, has re-entered Australian wine, this time with his son, Callum at his side. Since 2014 the company has focused on high-quality sites across both the Eden Valley and Barossa Valley, retaining Dave Powell's dual focuses on Rhône Valley varieties as well as his well known intent to chase elegance, savoury finesse and structure. The new Powell & Son wines combine extraordinary depth of layered fruit, handsome oak and fine textures with the minerality and thoughtful composition associated with the finest wines of Dave Powell's previous existence. But Torbreck these wines are not – there's a distinctly different style here to what Torbreck became. I'm truly excited to get to know these compelling wines.
