Lightly herbal aromas of melon, tropical fruit and tinned pear with creamy oak undertones precede a round, forward and moderately long and generous palate whose apple and pear-like flavours are underpinned by a creamy, leesy roundness and savoury influences. It dries out a little along the palate, finishing fractionally raw and lacking its customary brightness.

Grosset
Grosset is rightly known the world over for the spectacular quality and charm of its two key individual vineyard rieslings, the Polish Hill and the Springvale, both of which are graded with a Five Star rating, the only pair of rieslings from a single maker to achieve this level of recognition. While Grosset's current releases are all of genuine style and quality, I'm paying particular attention to the 2012 Gaia cabernet blend, which is by far the best wine under this label for many a year.
