Sutton Grange Estate Viognier 2023

$50.00

Fragrant, spicy and musky, this medium-weight viognier reveals an alluring but restrained bouquet of tangerine, florals and some creamy yeastiness. A finer, more linear and restrained example than we see from warmer years, it’s long and underpinned by a fine dustiness of genuine extract, finishing fresh, refined and with a lively acidity. A charming wine, but for those who love their viognier a little less opulent.

Winery

Sutton Grange
Peter Sidwell established his vineyard on the same property as his impressive equestrian facility. All releases to date were made by Gilles Lapalus, one of the most talented French winemakers ever to work in Australia, and present a unique combination of thoroughly Australian terroir with an equally Gallic winemaking attitude. The Syrah is a powerful, superbly structured red of immense depth and longevity, while the Giove is a Super-Tuscan blend of sangiovese and shiraz, grown and made in Bendigo, by a Frenchman! It takes something quite special in a rosŽ to capture my attention, but the finely textured and savoury expression from Sutton Grange manages to do so, every year.
