Wine Provenance Classification: A+

Sale Period: 2024-10-02 - 2024-12-31

One of the stars of the classic 1983 vintage of Bordeaux, and rated by many as the wine of the vintage. We have two bottles - one with a truly exceptional level and the other not far behind. Naturally, the first buyer will take away the marginally better of the two. The wines have been stored in an underground cellar in Melbourne. We are presenting front photos of each of the two bottles. To avoid confusion, the back photo and the overhead photo are of the bottle of the marginally superior level. Contact us if you wish to see photos of the back and/or overhead of the second bottle.

Chateau Margaux
One of the stellar chateaux of the left bank of Bordeaux, Chateau Margaux was one of the five recognised First Growths of the 1855 Classification. Unquestionably the star performer within the commune of Margaux, its wines typically reflect an elegance and refinement, plus a balance and completeness that enables them to cellar superbly for many decades. The chateau draws from 80ha of red varieties (75% cabernet sauvignon, 20% merlot, 2% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot) and also has 12 ha planted to sauvignon blanc for its Pavillon Blanc, one of the finest white crafted in Bordeaux.
