A youthful, austere cellaring style of riesling whose intense, heady bouquet of lime juice and lemon blossom overlies a deep core of citrusy fruit and a hint of creaminess. ItÕs deeply concentrated, pure and essence-like, with a long, assertive fruitfulness extending long and intense down a firmish, chalky spine towards a finely balanced finish of bracing, lemony acids. Certain to evolve for many years.

This comparatively large Clare Valley maker releases some occasionally delicious young wines under its main varietal label Đ such as the 2014 Shiraz Đ plus some rather more expensive and very traditional Australian styles under its St Andrews brand. With another fine release from 2014, the St Andrews Riesling remains the company's finest wine. The new 'ultra-premium' The Visionary label, priced around $120 per bottle, has entered the market with some success, its best wine to date being the very refined and silky Shiraz from 2010 (95/100, drink 2030-2040).
