Stylish, ultra-fine and savoury, with a wild, heady, spicy and peppery bouquet of briary dark berries, plums and aromatic tight-grained oak backed by notes of musky spices, briar and smoked meats. Medium in weight, it’s supple, smooth and willowy, with sweet, pastille-like flavours of cassis, blackberries and dark plums extending over a long, fine-gained, crunchy spine towards a lingering, faintly meaty, mineral and savoury finish of exceptional balance and elegance. Complete and tightly focused, it should age well. Just a fraction jammy for an even higher rating. Tasted in February 2025, it has evolved into a delightful warmer climate wine that is developing finely but with less length of fruit than the top vintages

Paradise IV
Paradise IV is one of the most sought-after labels in Victorian wine. It sits at the cutting edge of where cool climate Victoria is destined to head - towards distinctive and unique expressions of special terroirs using a carefully chosen marriage of site, variety and philosophy. The Chardonnay is by some margin the finest from the Geelong region while the elegant, medium-weight and savoury Dardel Shiraz is a wine of international stature and greatness. Sadly, putting it mildly, its owners ripped up the vineyard prior to the 2019 harvest. Fortunately, for the immediate future at least, the spectacular 2017 vintage is in barrel and the 2018 wines are happily brooding in oak.
