If there was a royal family of riesling in Australia, Kerri Thompson would be part of it. With a touch as deft as her understanding of the variety is broad, she produces fastidiously grown and made individual vineyard Clare Valley rieslings of exceptional elegance and charm. KT's output now includes four artisan rieslings (plus the idiosyncratic Pazza) and an outstanding Churinga Vineyard Shiraz (2012 vintage 95/100, drink 2024-2032+). The word 'artisan' is grossly overused these days, but certainly not in this case. The superb hit rate of the Peglidis Vineyard Riesling demands the shift to five stars.
