Best’s Great Western Young Vine Pinot Meunier 2025

$45.00

Deeply scented with red cherries, raspberries, musky spices and red rose petals, this alluring and artfully made young meunier is perhaps the finest yet released under this label. There’s a round fleshiness about the alate and its delivery of plush, perfectly ripened dark red fruit and an artfully integrated spine of crunchy tannin that provides the perfect springboard for the vibrancy of its fruit. Underpinned by a note of red licorice that becomes more emphatic towards the finish, it’s long, savoury and delightfully wrapped in soft but refreshing acids.

Winery

Best's Great Western
An icon in Australian wine, BestŐs is an historic winery in western Victoria whose shirazes rate among AustraliaŐs finest. Typical Great Western in style, they're steeped in fruit, laced with black pepper and exotic spices, but achieve a depth of fruit, strength and structure without appearing ham-fisted or clunky. The Bin No. '0' and Thomson Family Reserve Shirazes from 2014 reflect the intensity and harmony of this excellent vintage and will both cellar for the long term. Like several others from this region and from the nearby Henty area, Best's pristine and long-living Riesling continues to improve in its traditional off-dry style.
