An elegant, medium-weight, sweetly fruited and textural Yarra shiraz with some powerful St Joseph-like qualities. It’s musky, meaty and spicy, with dark plum and dark berry aromas lifted by a whiff of cracked pepper. Backed by a fine, powdery spine, it’s long and savoury, fleshing out with more richness of fruit with extended time in the glass, finishing with suggestions of charcuterie meats and mineral. If you’re drinking it young, aerate it well.
An elegant and very complete Macon-like chardonnay whose intriguing bouquet reveals fresh grapefruit, kaffir lime and creamy vanilla oak backed by pronounced suggestions of coriander, oyster shell and grilled nuts. It’s generous and mouthfilling, long and smooth, with a creamy background of nougat beneath its citrusy, melon-like nad peachy flavour. There’s a fine chalkiness all down the palate and the wine comes together with shape and richness at the finish.
