I didn’t expect this. Floral, faintly spicy aromas of redcurrants, cranberries, briar and mulberries knit with fresh cedary oak reveal notes of cigarbox and mineral. It’s long, smooth and creamy, with a wonderful length of vivacious fruit framed by firm, pliant tannins that culminates in a lingering, savoury finish of sour-edged cherry/boysenberry flavour, dried herbs and minerals. Exceptional purity of fine fruit.
A minty, structured and elegant blend whose pristine bouquet of dark cherries, blueberries and dark plums is backed by cedary oak and a hint of dried herbs. Medium to full-bodied, itÕs long and luscious, with an evenly ripened presence of cassis, cherries, plums and chocolatey oak supported by a fine-grained, drying backbone of loose-knit tannins. It finishes long and persistent.
An elegant, supple Right Bank blend whose fragrant bouquet of sweet raspberries, cherries, cassis and tight-grained cedar/vanilla oak overlies a hint of spearmint and menthol. It’s finely crafted, with a delightful length of pristine berry/cherry/plum, flavour underpinned by a firmish, drying spine of silky tannins, culminating in a lingering finish of lively acidity and a suggestion of menthol. Very finely balanced; for the longer term.
An elegant, long and measured Right Bank-styled claret with some dusty, faintly herbal aromas of bright small red berries and dark cherries backed by nuances of plums and vanilla/cedar oak. It’s long and silky, smooth and ripe, but very shapely and supple, focused around a plush core of vivacious merlot-dominant dark cherry/plum fruit underpinned by a loose-knit spine of dusty tannins. Very good viticulture and winemaking have created this elegant, generous and stylish Tasmanian red blend.
A powerful, structural, textural right bank Bordeaux style with an astringent grip, texture, power and length. Dark plums, cherries, cassis and redcurrants are integrated with cedar/dark chocolate oak, with a hint of cigarbox beneath. Quite a sleeper, it’s still looking very young, and could use plenty more time. There’s just a hint of mint and menthol, but they are likely to diminish as it ages. Extraordinary value for a wine of this maturity.
