Very complete, stylish and wonderfully balanced, with a bright citrusy fragrance of melon and sweet dusty vanilla oak with creamy undertones of nougat and grilled nuts. Tightly knit with fine-grained oak, its long and gentle palate has a fine, fluffy texture but rare intensity and focus, finishing with tangy, acidic notes of lime and lemon.
Lustrous and assertive, with translucent purity and concentration. Pungent, punchy aromas of grapefruit, melon and peach reveal nuances of wheatmeal and smoky, bacony undertones. ItÕs powerful but still smooth and measured, with an explosive core of stonefruit, grapefruit and melon handsomely backed by creamy vanilla oak and wrapped in a tightly focused acidity. Finishing long and savoury, it leaves a lingering note of brine and mineral.
A fine, fuller and powerful chardonnay whose complex, punchy bouquet of melon, white peach, grapefruit and fresh smoky, matchstick-like vanilla oak reveals nuances of ginger, clove and cinnamon. ItÕs luscious and full-flavoured, with opulent, densely packed and mouthfilling fruit tightly knit with sweet oak and wrapped in a lemony acidity.
Complex, faintly meaty and creamy aromas of grapefruit, melon and stonefruit with earthy undertones of ginger, clove and lime juice knit tightly with fresh, fine-grained vanilla oak. Long and creamy, with a nougat-like richness and savoury aspect, its powerful but restrained core of fruit reveals nuances of ham hock and mineral, finishing with a tangy, lemony acidity. Artfully balanced and classically stylish.
Supremely stylish and restrained, medium in weight, itÕs supple and seamless, with a pristine, faintly spicy and peppery presence of small black, red and blue fruits, sweet floral notes, measured chocolate/cedar oak and ultra-fine tannins. Towards its lingering finish of mouthwatering acidity it becomes more textural and mineral, and its fiery core of flavour becomes more pronounced.
Medium weight, powerfully flavoured but very closed and restrained, this coiled, sleeper of a shiraz slowly unfolds a sweet, floral and faintly minty bouquet of sweet redcurrants, blueberries, mulberries and fresh vanilla/cedar oak lifted by scents of five spice and cracked pepper. ItÕs long and supple, very primary and undeveloped, with a seamless core of red and blue fruit and fresh oak underpinned by a minerally extract, finishing with length, shape and freshness. Keep it!!!
A superb Barossa cabernet, which is no back-handed compliment. Bright, faintly herbal aromas of cassis, violets, dark plums, mulberries and fresh cedar/vanilla oak precede an elegant, but deeply flavoured palate of pristine, spotlessly pure fruit and creamy oak underpinned by firmish, fine-grained sandpapery tannins that build in power with aeration. It’s a long-term classic, with excellent balance, poise and structure. The Barossa does this in classic but cooler years, just like it did in 2002.
