Lake’s Folly Hill Block Shiraz 2017

Supremely stylish and restrained, medium in weight, itÕs supple and seamless, with a pristine, faintly spicy and peppery presence of small black, red and blue fruits, sweet floral notes, measured chocolate/cedar oak and ultra-fine tannins. Towards its lingering finish of mouthwatering acidity it becomes more textural and mineral, and its fiery core of flavour becomes more pronounced.

Winery

Lake's Folly
Lake's Folly is a small and iconic Hunter winery and vineyard planted of all things to chardonnay and the cabernet family (hence the -Folly') by its founder Dr Max Lake. Despite the fact that the Hunter is rightly best known for other things, Lake's Folly has evolved two wines of true iconic status, made these days with great skill and sensitivity by Rodney Kempe. The third wine, which will unquestionably reach similar status, perhaps even surpassing the Chardonnay on its way, is the Hill Block Chardonnay, soured from new plantings adjacent to the original vineyard. Its wines retain all the elegance and charming balance long associated with Lake's Folly, but offer an enhanced level of richness, minerality and concentration.
