A sweet fragrance of red berries, cherries with floral, spicy and slightly varnishy undertones precedes a smooth and sappy palate framed by firmish, fine and powdery tannins. There’s weight and structure aplenty, with lively flavours of red berries, cherries and plums finishing long and savoury. A little more fruit intensity would see a higher score.
Intense aromas of polished, smoky, bacony oak and rather simple, confectionary red cherry/berry fruit precede a ripe and rather thickly set palate that lacks genuine charm and elegance. Rather too ripe and oaky for a higher rating
A firmish, flavoursome and well balanced pinot that simply needs a little time. Scented with a spicy, floral perfume of raspberries, cherries and restrained vanilla oak, nuances of caramel and dried herbs, itÕs long and vibrant, with intense red fruit flavours supported by a marginally raw and hard-edged undercarriage of bony tannins, finishing with length of fruit and vibrant acidity. It should become more silky with time.
Very ripe and slightly baked, with a musky, earthy presence of ripe plums and redcurrants, red cherries and raspberries, lightly toasty seasoned oak and undertones of cloves, cinnamon with meaty, currant-like undertones. ItÕs quite sumptuous and forward, but lacks genuine brightness and vitality on the palate finishing quite firm and a little chunky, with edgy raw metallic notes and oak-derived tannins.
Forward and juicy, this elegant and finely crafted pinot has a scent of rose petals, sweet cherries, white pepper and cinnamon backed by musky spices and restrained oak, with an underlying suggestion of herbal influence. Fine and willowy, supple and sappy, its sweet flavours of cherries, raspberries and redcurrants are underpinned by a fragile, silky backbone. It finishes faintly savoury, with a lingering note of currant and menthol.
Sweetly fruited and forward but rather baked and simple, with a ripe, slightly pruney bouquet of dark plums, cherries and cedary oak with earthy undertones. It’s medium to full-bodied, with an initially juicy palate of cherries and sweet plums that becomes rather green-edged, raisined and sour towards the finish.
Presently rather firm and sinewy, but with the length and brightness of fruit to flesh out slowly. Its fragrant perfume of rose petals, raspberries, red cherries and aromatic fine oak precedes a long, assertive and brightly lit palate whose vibrant cherry/plum fruit and dusty, cedary oak are framed by a fine, drying extract and finish with a refreshing acidity.
Slightly baked, but searingly intense, this firm, long and deeply ripened shiraz reveals a smoky presence of plums, blackberries and a hint of raisin backed by mocha oak and a suggestion of iodide. ItÕs backed by a firm, powdery spine of slightly raw, hard-edged tannin and finishes without great length or freshness.
Slightly herbal aromas of lime and green apple skin precede a forward and juicy palate with lime, lemon and apple-like fruit and some creamy, nutty undertones that despite some pithiness lacks genuine length, shape and drive. It finishes with a taut, faintly steely acidity.
