A stylish, elegant and fine-grained shiraz of Old World style but New World fruit expression. Spicy, meaty and faintly chocolatey aromas of red berries and dark plums are backed by a whiff of cracked peppercorns. Smooth and supple, medium to full-bodied, it reveals brightly lit berry/plum flavours and cedar/chocolate oak supported by pliant, firmish tannins that build more strength and grip towards its finely balanced, savoury finish.

While Margaret River doesn’t immediately spring to mind as a region ideally suited to shiraz, Peccavi has a long history of crafting savoury, Rhone-inspired expressions of this variety of genuine class. This vintage reveals a musky perfume of cassis, raspberries and blueberries knit with smoky cedar/vanilla oak and lifted by scents of cinnamon, white pepper, violets and red flowers. Smooth and seamless, its succulent core of translucently clear fruit knits perfectly with a fresh oak interface, finishing with style and lingering flavour.

  • Peccavi The Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
    Jeremy’s score 97/100

    $150.00

Peccavi’s top level cabernet bucks the Australian trend, for it’s based on quality and purity of expression rather than additional ripeness, oak or extract. A heady, essential perfume of cassis, redcurrants, raspberries and dark plums backed by suggestions of dried herbs, minerals and blueberries is deftly supported by gentle cedar/cigarboxy oak. It’s plush and luxuriant but emphasises purity and elegance as it glides down a pliant but chalky spine of grainy tannins, culminating in a lingering finish of remarkable length and balance.

  • Peccavi The Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
    Jeremy’s score 98/100

    $150.00

Simply an astonishing, classical and perfectly balanced cabernet revelling in its style and power. Its bouquet is saturated by with fruit and florals as pristine, concentrated scents of cassis, dark plums and black cherries are tightly knit with cedar/cigarboxy oak and lifted by sweet scents of violets and dried wild herbs. Underpinned by a firmish, powdery spine of drying tannins, its luscious, mouthfilling core of vivacious fruit extends tightly ordered and complete towards a lingering, dry and faintly mineral finish. Exuding class and finesse, it’s emphatic but controlled, flaunting its artful integration with excellent polished oak. A Queen Mary (reference the liner) of a cabernet, and one of the finest from Australia in decades.

    $150.00

A beautifully measured, deeply flavoured and elegant but superbly textural cabernet that lacks for nothing. Deeply scented with cassis, dark cherries, dark plums and cedary/dark chocolate oak backed by gravelly, mineral nuances and lifted by scents of dark flowers and dried herbs; a pristine, beautifully measured and balanced cabernet of fullish to medium weight. It’s long, complete and tightly focused as a young cabernet should be, wound around a firm spine of drying, slatey tannins and deftly supported by excellent cedar/cigarboxy oak, finishing savoury, dry and mineral. Extremely elegant, measured and artfully balanced.
