Hewitson Strawberry Hill Shiraz 2023

$150.00

Scented with bright red and black berries, a whiff of eastern spice, blood plums and a hint of cedary oak, this medium-weight shiraz delivers a plump, round core of fruit and flavour laced with blackberries, blueberries and redcurrants. Underpinned by a powdery backbone, it’s long, gentle and delightfully flavoured, extending with drive and gentle power towards a lingering finish of red licorice and refreshing acids. A charming wine that slowly reveals its underlying fine, powdery spine.

Winery

Hewitson
Dean Hewitson's wines reflect a technical stability and correctness plus a level of artisanship rare in Australian wine. His wines are so much more perfumed, restrained and elegant than most wines from the Barossa and McLaren vale, but deliver a lustrous intensity that only great vineyards can achieve. There's a true house style here, which is the envy of most small producers the world over. No wines reflect this better than the two mourvŹdres, each of which can produce a fragrance, purity and silkiness more commonly experienced with pinot noir.
