Quite mineral and with a forward, almost oily core of fruit, it tends to stick on the inside of the mouth with a cloying adherence of unusual texture. There's clearly some attractive flavour, but there's an aspect of the finish that just doesn't clear the mouth with freshness. This is not uncommon amongst Adelaide Hills chardonnays of this season, which did feature issues related to local bushfires. It's a minor aspect of this wine at the moment, but my experience suggests it's likely to increase over time. It goes without saying that I'd love to be proven wrong.
