A stunning first release from just a second crop. Lifted by scents of five spice and a whiff of pepper, heady scents of dark rose petals, potpourri, black and red cherries, blueberries and blood plums knit with cedary oak, delivering piercing intensity and volume. Its sumptuous, dark-fruited palate extends long and silky, would around a spine of fine, ferrous tannins, driving towards a savoury and pleasingly drying finish of minerals, licorice and crunchy acidity. All about purity, intensity and restrained power, this wine is already complex and approachable, and should acquire more depth and structure as it ages.
