Ox Hardy Grenache
McLaren Vale
Price Range at Release: $30-$49
Vintage: 2022
Alc %: 14.5
A deep, vivacious perfume of dark cherries, dark plums, blueberries and rose petals reveals notes of licorice and tar. Long, smooth and evenly paced, it's generous and fine-grained, with a charming core of cherry, cranberry and blood plum-like fruit steadily becoming richer and more intense down the palate. Deliciously fruited, it's underpinned by tight, sandpapery tannins. Delicious right now but likely to evolve very well.

Andrew Hardy brings his wealth of winemaking experience and unbridled enthusiasm to his family's historic vineyard in Upper Tintara, which includes a 2.5 hectare block of Ancestor Vine shiraz planted in 1891. His wines, reds especially, tell a story of why McLaren Vale can be so relevant today, both as a source of classic traditional Australian wine as well as more elegant and medium-bodied alternatives to what many drinkers believe the region is all about. Taken as a group, the wines are spotlessly made, true to type and offer terrific value for money.
