Just lacking ripeness and conviction, this is otherwise a fine example of winemaking with some true ambitions towards style. Spicy and floral, its perfume of dark berries, cassis and chocolate/vanilla oak reveals meaty and mineral undertones. It's forward and flavourome, with a moderate depth of fruit and some fine tannins, but does finish faintly metallic and green-edged. Short term.
