Mitchell McNicol Riesling
Clare Valley
Price Range at Release: $30-$49
Vintage: 2013
Alc %: 11.8
$ Rel: 50
A rather sweet expression of maturing Clare riesling with some toasty, honeyed and smoky development. There's still plenty of primary lime juice, green apple skin and lemon curd flavour, with a gentle finish that might perhaps have appreciated a little more acidity. Treat this as an off-dry release from a label that has tended that way in recent releases.

Mitchell
A small producer of compelling and individual Clare Valley wines, Mitchell is one of the leading makers of the region’s white specialities, riesling and semillon. Mitchell's reds include the appropriately named Peppertree Vineyard Shiraz, which for many years has been an Australian benchmark for quality and value. The Sevenhill Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, as epitomised by the 2010 release, is capable of developing for many years. The currently available white wines are quite up to Mitchell's usual exacting standards.
