Winery

Gemtree
Gemtree is a large producer of McLaren Vale wine with 140 ha under vine whose emphasis has returned to its core range of wines from its estate and regional sources. Its property features 10 ha of wetlands that have involved the creation of six dams and the planting of more than 20,000 native trees. The company's wines typically marry deeply ripened dark fruit flavours with assertive oak and firm, pliant tannins, and as my scores suggest, I think 2012 is something of a watershed vintage for this maker, producing wines of significantly superior balance and finesse.
