Ready to enjoy right now, with a musky, faintly meaty fragrance of blackberries, briar, dark plums and mulberries backed by a fiery whiff of eastern spice, white pepper and cedar/vanilla oak. Medium in weight, it's long and evenly paced, soft and smooth, finishing with refreshing acids and some savoury aspects.

Frankland Estate
Firstly it was Frankland Estate's collection of European-inspired Rieslings that captured popular attention, but these days its red wines are of near-comparable merit. Let by an outstanding Olmo's Reward and Isolation Ridge Vineyard shiraz, the reds have developed wonderful elegance and balance, based on better viticulture and vines of greater maturity. The Riesling collection continues to provide me with one of the more enjoyable tasting experiences in Australian wine.
