Not many people are aware of Mount Mary’s Triolet blend of sauvignon blanc, semillon and muscadelle. It’s typically made a la white Bordeaux, being fermented in older oak and given plenty of time on yeast lees to develop its characteristic creamy, nutty roundness. It’s usually delicious in its youth, but the better vintages really develop strongly after a decade and more. The 2021 Triolet is the finest release from Mount Mary’s 2021 collection and is well worth seeking out. The number of Australian standouts of this style is extremely small.
