It’s early days but as they begin to come onto the market it’s becoming clear that the top Yarra Valley sites might well have achieved exceptional results with their cabernet sauvignon-based wines from 2022. This is despite the fact that the vintage was even cooler and later than the highly-rated 2021 season. Keep an eye out for them, and don’t forget that even if it’s out of fashion – inexplicably to me, at least – it’s still capable of some of Australia’s (and the Yarra Valley’s) finest wines.
