One of the highlights of my recent trip to Clare was one of the least expensive wines I tasted – the Mr Mick Sangiovese from 2023. I’d seen this wine several months previously and was sufficiently impressed to stock in it our store. What I wasn’t expecting when I tasted it again the other day was a totally convincing, varietally correct Tuscan look-alike with the kind of perfume, sour-edged flavour, texture and freshness that sets good sangiovese apart from the rest.
