One of the highlights of the new Seppelt release is the truly remarkable 2023 vintage of Drumborg Vineyard Traminer, the first release from the re-established plantings of this grape at one of Victoria’s premier cool climate sites. Elite Australian gewürztraminers are few and far between – I can think of releases from Pipers Brook, Delatite and Ros Ritchie that really impressed and some of the old releases from Orlando under the Flaxman’s label were truly memorable. But here’s something new: a wine with all the heady fragrance, lusciousness and explosion of fruit you could imagine, but delivered with a Rolls Royce-like smoothness and restraint.
