It takes time to unfold, but there’s some pleasing floral, herbal and faintly minty perfume about the wine’s bright, confiture-like aromas of cassis, blackberries and dark plums. The oak, however, is too assertive and its mocha/pine needle notes tend to detract from the nose as well as the pleaing drive of berry/plum fruit on the palate. Underpinned by a slatey spine, it finishes with some freshness and a lingering mineral note.
