Cobaw Ridge
The Cooper family from Cobaw Ridge in Victoria's Macedon Ranges is a family on a mission. That mission is to cement a place in the Australian winescape for the rare lagrein variety, whose original home is South Tyrol in northern Italy. The new vintage for this edition is the 2013 Lagrein, which like the previous release from 2010 is quite possibly the finest expression of this variety ever made outside Italy. It's remarkably layered, elegant, nervy and savoury, and represents a new dimension for Australian wine. It's a must-try wine for the large number of enthusiasts of Australian wine who are perhaps a bit jaded by our focus on a small number of principally French varieties. The Chardonnay is also growing in style and stature.
